Which one is more iconic: this one or the Pythagorean theorem?

No one ever showed me the angle sum of a triangle. My teachers just straight away told us its 180 degrees without showing us why. I’m thankful to see teachers like you to help me see this.

I had my students make their own triangles of varied sizes. Then they folded in all the corners to find that it always makes a straight line (180°). That's how I taught sum of angles of a triangle.

But it's based on the assumption that there 's a unique parallel line that passes from a point outside a given line. This is not an axiom for geometry, the title of the video can add the precision "in Planar Geometry"

Not gonna lie, I misread it as "the most ironic proof in geometry"😂

so this why we can't draw a triangle if one side longer than sum of other two.

This proves that sum of angles in triangle 📐 is 180°

Can someone please explain what is being proved here?

I studied the proof in 9th standard; the very previous year.

India, CBSE.

Hey I just proved it in my exam in class 9th... I'm feeling quite heroic!

We learn this in lowerr classes in Ethiopia!

I have to disagree, IMO the most iconic proof is:
To construct an equilateral triangle on a given finite straight line. Let AB be the given finite straight line. It is required to construct an equilateral triangle on the straight line AB.

"The sum of the squre roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the third side."

I may sound harsh but this proof is thought in India in class 8

This assumes the fifth postulate is true, even though it isn’t proven true.

Literally no one....no pythagoras nt a Euclid
But BPRP: showing us the iconic proof😂

That's learnt in 5 grade by Indians.
