Shazam Animated Series 1981: Black Adam's Return

Показать описание
This is an episode of the 1981 Filmation animated Saturday morning series "Shazam!" not to be confused with the live-action Filmation series of the same name that ran from 1974-1976. The animated show was much truer to the original Fawcett comics, featuring Freddy Freeman as Captain Marvel, Jr., Mary Batson as Mary Marvel, along with non-superpowered cohorts Uncle Dudley and Tawky Tawney the talking tiger.
The animated show featured not only the original Marvel family, but also the original rogues' gallery of Fawcett villains like Dr. Sivana, Black Adam, Aunt Minerva, Mister Mind, Mister Atom, and others. This episode is the first appearance of Black Adam outside of the Fawcett/DC print comics and is very faithful to his only golden age appearance in The Marvel Family #1 in 1945. Despite having only one comic appearance and dying at the end of the story, Black Adam went on in the 1980s and 1990s to become one of the biggest characters in the DC universe, eclipsing even his progenitor Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel was the best-selling comic book of the 1940s, surpassing Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, The Flash, and others. It was only after a copyright infringement lawsuit by National Comics (now DC) that Fawcett ceased publication in 1953 and Captain Marvel spent the next two decades in the comic book deep freeze.
