Spooky Spider Launcher: Kid-Friendly Halloween DIY 🕷️🕸️

Ready, aim, spider! Launch some spooky fun this Halloween with this easy DIY spider launch.

You’ll need: large cardboard cylinder or roll of tape (like packing tape), rubber bands, lollipop sticks, hot glue, colorful paper, plastic spiders
1: Glue colorful paper around the cylinder.
2: Glue on 4 lollipop sticks.
3: Add the first rubber band and twist it around each stick.
4: Add another rubber band and twist it around each stick.
5: Lift the lower rubber band up and over the stick.
6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 two more times.
7: Drop a spider in the web, pull back, and launch!

This launcher also doubles as a spook-tacular demonstration of potential and kinetic energy. When you stretch out a rubber band, that’s potential energy. The rubber band isn’t moving yet, but it’s ready to. And when you let go, that’s kinetic energy, or the energy of motion. The rubber band goes SNAP, which launches the spider — eek!
