Why I choose 🔮Wicca and Witchcraft 🔮over New Age Spirituality🧬

This is why i choose WICCA and Witchcraft over NEW AGE Spirituality how it is percieved especially nowdays online.This for me is s going back to my true self and the reasons why.

Great topic. I 100% agree, the "new age" movement is very flawed, and filled with alot of fluff and b.s. I done a video on the top New age lies for those interested. I'm similar to you, I come from a Portuguese family line of Bruja witches. I like wicca principles, like "do what you want but harm none" I apply that to my life anyway. The New age community is very shallow and doesn't go deep into what energy and magick actually is.. all they focus on ironically is what their ego wants, manifesting. And ignore Morailty. Manifesting money, love, career, etc etc.. this is not spirituality and can actually lead people down a Very dark path. Neyah, could you maybe please do a public video about stregoneria? One thing I have always disliked about “New Age Spirituality” is how Anglo it has to be. I don’t think it is culturally diverse. So many viewers, I do believe, want to learn about your culture. What is Italian folk magic like? Were you born in Sardinia? That is so cool, Neyah, Honestly Wicca is cool but I don’t resonate with it because it seems to be firmly anchored on the ancient Celtic and Anglo-Saxon fusion of spirituality, and that’s only a small part of the world. And I personally resonate with my own culture, it’s easier to work with my ancestors and in the language I learned to feel and think in. But I am inspired by every single culture and respectfully learn from all. Thanks for considering this idea, even if you only make it for your members it’d still be so wonderful to learn of your roots and your land and how it has shaped your practice. 🙏🏻Thank you

I completely agree that the New Age community has a tendency to be pretty judgmental and has gotten so homogenized, to the point where it starts to feel meaningless and without variety and interest. I really think there are as many ways are there are people. Most important thing is to be yourself — and I feel like even though New Age people say to do that — it’s like everyone regurgitates the same things, and there’s nothing interesting about it anymore. It’s like they are kind of alluding that’s everyone should be the same. Let’s protect diversity!

I am also half Italian and love hearing you talk about what kind of witchcraft you learned from your Italian family. Please do more videos about that. I think it's very cool you are connecting back to your family roots.

I had a similar experience of coming back to Wicca and witchcraft after distancing myself. I felt pressured by the circles I was running in at the time. Instead of the shallow parts of the New Age, I was encouraged to follow so called "revolutionary witchcraft".

What you said about animal sacrifice made me feel compelled to make this comment because these people I followed for a while were fierce advocates of such practices, and dismissed any beliefs or opinions to the contrary, saying it was an attack on their culture to even say you personally were against it. They were also anti-vegan.

The community was very toxic and was obviously only concerned with uplifting perspectives and versions of history that supported them. They also had a habit of holding knowledge hostsge essentially.

What I mean by this is that they would attack Wicca and other occult traditions for being racist/sexist/ineffective or whatever else, and they would go on about how much better their tradition was... But their tradition just happened to be closed so I guess we'll have to take their word for it. I don't mean to attack closed traditions, only to be skeptical of people who were very eagar to denounce other peoples practices and traditions but refused to offer any real alternative to these things they perceived to be wrong. I could go on about how these people damaged my mental health, my self worth, and my connection to my heritage/beliefs...

I was struck by how similar my realization to yours was that I was basically destroying little bits of myself everyday and denying my true nature to try to fit in woth these toxic people. I always connect with your stories and your craft, Neyah. Even if we are not on the exact same path I always know I can find guidance and acceptance in what you post. I haven't been able to join your subscription service yet, but I plan to in the near future.

The “I’m not spiritual enough” hit hard. I truly had a long journey to pick myself up again after I did everything I could to manifest my dreams and it didn’t work no matter what I tried. At the end of the day it led me to the pagan worldview (which I knew nothing about before) and a basic principle that everything is there for a reason. Now I use pagan knowledge as a way to connect to the world and to myself without judging it as “good” or “bad”. That’s funny how new age completely broke myself but also led to the right path.

Hello Neyah, always love your videos but the only thing I'd respectfully disagree with you is the bit of about the Theosophy and Mdm Blavatsky. In fact, many of the New Age "movements" that you see in this day and age are not ... quite traditionally theosophical but rather at times a neurotic extrapolation of the original tenets. In serious Theosophical discourses, the scholars (truth seekers as we all are) have to quote and provide reference / credits to the sources of their information. Plus, even part of the doctrine is to verify and experience the truths for yourself instead of blindly believing in the something you are told. Gerald Gardner, perhaps at least to me, exemplifies the best qualities of a true theosophist. Before establishing Wicca, I am sure you know, Gardner went through many years of learning and research and experience the teachings of many traditions (Rosicrucian, Masonry, Witchcraft, etc - Fellowship of Crotona) before decided to carve his own path. Yet, you are absolutely right that at times, you see many things "mix-and-match" and it could be rather confusing than helpful, especially when commercial interests are involved. For me, there is only 1 way to experience the truth is to continue learning and sharing/verifying your knowledge with others and find what works best for you. I believe the truth is just one but can be seen from many angles and I hope Gardner and you would agree with me as well. Cheers!

new age encourages an obsession with controlling your thoughts that can become vey unhealthy, among other things that at first sounds beautiful but it can turn dark fast, also conspiracies theories run rampant in the new age community, too many unstable crazy people in the new age community
