Show jump training and Side Saddle // Area 12’s summer show!

Jack woke up and chose violence.
All the horses got turned out early and I’m normally up before they are all out so I can get plaited and go but sadly, not all days work out.

It’s ok to have off days.

He’s feeling extremely well which I’m happy with but he has a lot of energy that I cannot seem to lose.

We made it home which is all that matters and we have other shows where we can keep trying. I just need to find his happy medium workload now that he’s back in full work.

He’ll never be any judges cup of tea and that’s ok, I do not go out to compete but sometimes, it’ll be nice to ride a settled horse, not one who has to do everything at 100mph.

Any ideas on how to get energy out of a rehabbing horse, please share.

You aren’t letting him down. All trips out are a chance to learn. Sometimes, the best result is that we leave the ring safely, still on the horse, and everyone is upright and breathing. You are doing a great job.
