Homer demonstrates amazing heat tolerance at the cook-off, but is burned by Chief Wiggum's spicy chili cooked with Guatemalan insanity peppers.

If Homer is asking Flanders for help, you know something is wrong.

“Well chief, don’t quit your day job….whatever THAT is.”

Most devastating insult homer has ever thrown down 🤣

Props to the animators on this one, I can't imagine how long it must have taken them to draw all of this sequence!

Homer promised Marge that he’d stay sober during the chili cook-off, and he kept his end of the bargain. Marge didn’t say anything about going insane.

If Homer can withstand sloshing molten wax in his mouth like it's nothing, I can't imagine how hot the Insanity Pepper is.

2:08 probably the only time Otto was smart. He knew Homer was Tripping Balls.

I think what makes this episode so great is that it's purely from Homer's perspective, sure you get glimpses of Marge, it really feels like Homer's desperate journey. Especially with the hallucination sequence, with Homer going on some crazy chili drug trip. And when met with the Spirit Guide Cyote (voiced by Johny Cash) hes too stupid to understand his advice. It's only when he learns for himself after being questioned about his relationship with Marge he knows what to do in the end.

This episode had some of the best animation in the whole show

A lot of this sequence was actually animated by David Silverman, because he had a specific vision that he didn't think the overseas studios could do any justice.

Charlie Brown cartoons have been a favorite of mine since childhood so the "Waa-waa-waa" voice joke with "Mrs. Krabappel" was funny as hell!
