Mom fights back after a neighbor calls cops over child walking dog alone

Wtf. Starting in 1st grade i had to walk to from school in nyc . 2nd. 3rd. 4th 5th. I walked by my self. No mom or dad next to me. Cooked hot dogs on the stove for lunch . Stay home by myself. Nobody called the cop to protect me!! then again that was almost 50 yrs ago . Idk if u can do that now

Don't let your child feel like a victim. They showed up to be sure the child was ok, they now see it, and leave it at that. Let the child know that they were there just as a protective measure. That makes the caller feel all of that wrong if they were doing it for the wrong reasons. NEVER LET YOUR CHILD FEEL LIKE THE VICTIM. STAND STRONG!

That neighbor was a lunatic. An 8-year-old is perfectly capable of walking a dog. When I was a kid, we played outside all day, running around the neighborhood, going to parks on our own. My mother used to have me ride my bike to the post office for her. The post office was probably a half mile away. Children don't need to be under their parents' thumb every second. of every day. The mother is right: the moment they realized that child wasn't 5, the whole thing should have ended there.

Sorry, don't think it is a good idea for an 8 year old to be walking down the street alone but the neighbor would have done better to talk to the mom rather than calling the police.

Is everyone forgetting that kids do get kidnapped?...Especially in Chicago? Like really. There was 58 murders this past weekend in Chicago alone. They were just looking out for her. I understand being independent is very important. I teach my kids to be independent as well but maybe walking your dog in CHICAGO when your 8 and by yourself isnt the best way to teach them.

Never call CPS unless you know they are being abused or neglected. That little girl is not neglected. Would you rather her be in foster care with people who dont care about her and experience actual neglect?
Go to the parent if you have an issue? Not brave enough? Write a letter! Anything but CPS.
