The fact that Maria got to keep her hair when her lip was deformed but as soon as it was fixed she got taken. So sad

The Love and Courage the mother showed the entire movie was powerful, , , the Love she portrayed came across so real in the scene where she was confronted with her biggest fear when they finally came for her daughter, ,,and the Hug after they left, ,,,I really enjoy when they use local talent in these films 🎥 forget the critics, ,definitely pulled you into the despair and stickiness of the daily life of those poor souls!!!! Loved your take on it!! Keep up the Great work!!!✌🏼✌🏼👊🏻💯

You are totally right saying information is missing for characters like the mom.. the film is based in a 2014 book where the backstory of the mom and the connection with other characters are profoundly explained. I enjoyed the movie but expected a lot more knowing the original material.

The real situation in Mexico not only in Mexico but many countries around the world.

Great review, also loved the movie, and I valued the director's choice of leaving graphic violence aside to focus the film on describing the context, the circumstances around this remote village under drugs cartels siege, which forced the people to labor in the poppy fields. I also guess the mother's unstable behavior is a consequence of trying to hide her child the truth behind the missings of the village girls.

Everyone is forgetting one important thing about this problems and just some have the cojones to address it, it's single mothers, it's hitting us like a plague.

What I really don't understand is why they didn't leave earlier. I mean they end up leaving, but apparently they could have left before anything happened to Maria which is the saddest part of all.

I’m looking forward to the conclusion of Better Call Saul, though Bob Odenkirk’s health has thrown that into question. Strangely, I take more comfort from darker stories like this than I do from lighter fare, like Tiger King. When you know there are still creatives out there who care about the realities of life and want to broaden the experience of the viewer, I find that more reassuring than the exploitative nature of sticking a camera in front of a bunch of lowlifes and nut jobs, just to see what shenanigans they get up to next. Much more likely to watch this than that.

Just binged rest of S2 of Love Life - I liked it even though I lot of ppl didn't, eh.
Looking foward to binging Wheel of Time, although I don't have high hopes. Been reading the book series for over 30 years, so it's s must watch, but I think they're just trying to cash in on the gap left by GoT, same goes for the upcoming LotR series.

I was kind of hoping for all the spoilers because I don't want to see any of the horror aspects
