Hey guys, today I am going to explore just outside Chandravalli caves, and there are many unexplained structures here, like this one.
It looks very strange right? Is it a temple? Or is it something else? It has been created between 2 giant natural rocks, and we can see a crude triangle with three windows. Let’s go closer and take a good look. Why would somebody create such a structure in the middle of nowhere? It is set up about 20 feet high from the ground, on top of a rock, and look at this area, it almost looks like a well-done roof. What is inside this structure? Let me see if I can go up there.
There is a strange carving here, that most people will probably miss. It looks like a Reptilian, pointing to the right. It is either an unfinished carving or it was made specifically so faintly, so most people will not notice it.
I am squeezing through these rocks and trying to get to this area. It must have been a secret hideout or something, because they did not create a proper pathway for people to get to this building. My camera person and guide have stayed behind while I am trying to see what is up here.
A brick structure with a nice entrance, it is less than 4 feet tall. Many old doorways in this area are less than 4 feet tall, as though they were designed for little people or little green men. But there is nothing inside. Some parts are made into brick walls plastered with lime mortar. I am struggling to climb up, I think there is another way through the right side. But no, I don’t think so. You have to manually climb the rock using your hands. It is very hard. On the top, again, there is nothing, just a natural rock floor, and the brick windows. What was the point of constructing this? This is how it looks from the top. It is quite high, even though I didn’t feel it while I climbed. The brick walls are well plastered, and the windows are designed with nice arches. Was it a look out post, a watch tower of sorts? What other purpose could it have?
You cannot even stand upright in this, because the ceiling is, again less than 4 feet tall. You can see how I am crouching, because of the low ceiling. The floor is also sloping on both sides, you can slide off through the window and fall down, or slide down to the other side. I mean what was this structure used for, there is no room, no practical use, nothing, you cannot even stand here.
But climbing down is even harder, because there is nothing to grasp or hold on to.
Originally something must have been inside.

Kudos to Mohan for documenting this amazing site. Hope he tries to explore many places near this area (Chitradurga 7 suttina kote is a must).
That rectangular slab @ 11:06 is called as a "ರುಬ್ಬೋ ಗುಂಡು/ಕಲ್ಲು"(rubbo gundu/kallu) or "ಒರಳು"(Oralu) in Kannada, means the stone which was used to grind things like masala, flour, chutney etc in ancient days. That is a common in every house back then, especially in Southern Karnataka.
And about these caves, when I visited this site, our guide who showed the place told us that the Agastya maha muni along with his Shishyas did a tapas in these caves for many years. So this cave has minimal light for concentration, with cool weather even if we go underground, we can see so many stairs rhat lead to different places inside the cave, there is a bed where muni used to sleep, and that oralu which was used by them to prepare food etc. This is an amazing place.

There is a fascinating mystery called “Baan Stambh” in the ancient Somnath Temple in Gujarat.

On the south side of the temple, overlooking the sea, is a pillar called “Baan sthamb”. An arrow is built on the top of the pillar which points towards the sea. The existence of this pillar is mentioned in some ancient books from the 6th century.

There is an inscription carved on the pillar in Sanskrit -
“आसमुद्रांत दक्षिण ध्रुव, पर्यंत अबाधित ज्योर्तिमार्ग'”.
(“there is no earth terrain from this point of the sea to the South Pole).

Now the fun fact. If you start travelling from Somnath Mandir towards South, you will indeed not find any mountain or piece of land until you reach the South Pole (Antarctica), 10, 000 km away.
So the mystery is - how did our ancestors know this fact in the 6th century or thousands of year before that.
Did they have an aerial map of the earth? What degree of knowledge of Astronomy, Geography, Mathematics and Maritime Sciences they must have had!
Our ancient Indian heritage is 👌👌👌

3:26 the writing looks recent, but at 3:46 the carving on the top ceiling looks legit and tells a story. Man, Praveen! You are such a modern hero for all of us that seek the mysteries to be solved. Thank you so much!

Please take precautions when climbing up or down the rocks. If you get hurt, it will break a million hearts. We need your skills and expertise to show us more of our history.

I really love your videos, makes me want to visit India. You have such rich and fascinating history... So many beautiful archeological sites. In a lot of ways, I think they may have been more advanced than we are today.

Thank you for taking us on your adventures. There did appear to be a well used area for a fire in the corner on the lower level where you entered for food or warmth. Start watching at 3:25 There is a couple other interesting objects inside on upper level: drawing of stick figures, possibly in conflict, and raised objects that cast shadows, that may resemble a face.

It’s quite amazing how much you care about bringing these structures and carvings to light. It makes us appreciate the creativity and ingenuity of our ancestors. Hope more experts like you start looking at your videos and give some opinions so that we know for sure what the purpose of these caves were. Keep up the fantastic work Praveen.

Looks like a defensive structure. If it takes you that long to get up there it would take enemies that long too all the while being attacked by whomever is inside the windows. There's head room to slide down the slope to the entrance quickly, or pass weapons up by hand. There are also square holes in the wall possibly for shutters or to shoot out of. The rooms could be chambers where enemy troops would be trapped from the outside then they could be talked to through the hole for safe negotiations or even killed by dropping down smoking embers then covering the holes from the outside.

In the first cave it looks like a perfect place to meditate thus the low ceiling. Perhaps the brick wall with the arches was made to keep rain and cold winds out. Great work Praveen. Keep it up. I am glad you have recovered and back on the streets. Many thanks

It’s intriguing and thought provoking. I truly appreciate the kind of effort and enthusiasm that you put in your videos. This video is one of a kind that I liked. Just wondering if the holes on the ceiling and the wall are meant for some kind of astronomical observations and calculations!!! Love to see these kind of videos from you. You ignite the fire of curiosity man! Regards…

It is certainly an ancient location setup for meditating peacefully without being disturbed. One can somewhat easily reach this location and be safe more of less. Even if someone came after you they would be caught up getting to you and you could go out the top of the rocks windows. Also because of the small openings one could also defend themselves well once inside. Numbers would mean nothing, to a point.
