This is a great video! And your most important tip is spot on: Buy tickets well in advance. If you're coming during summer, tickets can be sold out up to a month in advance!

We visited Alcatraz about 20 years ago. It was kind of creepy walking through there and imagining the types of criminals who did time. And imagining those criminals who died within those walls. They had a small souvenir shop as I recall. And they had one former inmate sitting there signing the book he had written about his life at Alcatraz.

Lots to see at this prison. It was a rainy day when we visited in April. And super cold.

I have been here a number of times since the 1990s. It is a must visit! It is just a shame how much it has degraded since the 1990s and how much less of the prison you can see. There used to be a lot more areas of the prison you could see.

I'm glad I visited Alcatrez but honestly it wasn't my fav part, actually found it stank (bird poo) and was super windy the day we visited. Glad we did it but preferred Golden Gate Bridge and the Sequia woods.
