Episode 933
A viewer wanted to see what a parallel circuit does on the Smith chart. I show a 100 ohm resistor in parallel with a 288pf capacitor to ground.

I finally got around to watching this and your #930 Advanced Smith Chart video. Thanks for those. Smith charts make a lot more sense to me and I can now stop skirting around the topic when I'm having my fun in ham radio.

Thank you for this Video !! 50+ yrs of electronic work just never involved VNA's & your Well done video finally made L & T Network impedance networks finally "Click" my better understanding.... You have Rare great calming instructional talents that tech & Institutional schools Should model from.... Better educated students with a real feeling grasp of the subjects would certainly

50-50i at @10 Mhz is 50R series with 318pF, in admittance the same point is 0.1-0.1i, that is (50-50i)^-1, is 100R parallel with 159pF. I don´t know if nanoVNA or your VNA can be read directly in admittance units. I have made very accurate capacitance measurements with capacitors and varactor diodes with my nanovna. It seems that you need nanosaver with nanovna to read admittances.

In my 42 years of electronics engineering work I have never seen a Smith chart.
They look very complicated to fully understand.
1. You are very knowledgeable in this area. Where did you learn this; school, work, hobby?
2. Do you have a good source for info on antennas, specifically I would like to know how the instantaneous voltages along an antenna relate to the instantaneous electromagnetic field radiated or received by the antenna. Diagrams would be helpful.

Hi!, can you please check the capacitor value with RLC, should be 115pF, not 288pF

It is possible that you make the same video but also with VNA, how adding extra component in series or in paraller change chart?, thanks a lot

Is it possible to build a 2.0 - 3.55Ghz band pass filter or is the frequency of this wide band not available to us in our home lab?

Can the nanovna make the same measurement? If I put a 50r with a 47pf capactior at the end of a coaxial nanovna measure a big capacitor, I think that is measuring a serial capacitor.
