I purchased 2 lucky bamboo stalks from my local Asian grocery store. They were about 3ft tall when I purchased them. the leaves on the one of them began to turn yellow after 2 weeks, but the other seems to be alright. I will try your method, and get back to you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you! My lucky bamboo is getting a little tall for the best place I have for it so I was worried I might have to move it elsewhere and risk it's health! Time to propegate him!

Hi there, is it really necessary to cut off the small leaves from the bottom?

this answered every question i had. especially after cutting the new sprout, not to cut your original shorter.. it’ll grow where you clipped it.. thanks!

i have a 5 year old lucky bamboo, i want to cut it and make more out of my original bamboo. 2 other ones died i have one left, i’m trying to save it and get more from this one

Instead of propagating the shoots in water would it also work if I were to propagate it in soil or in coconut peat?
I have been preparing the shoot in water but since the shoot is pretty small and I have been seeing much results of it growing any roots I decided to try to transfer it into a small pot with coconut peat. The leaves of the shoot still looks really healthy and green while it was still in water but after around 2 months of not really seeing any roots growing transfer it in coconut peat but I don’t know if it would be possible to propagate it in soil/coconut peat. So I want to ask to see if you happen to know and if it’s not possible then I would just take it out of pot that has coconut peat and move it back in just water.

Drinking water where I live IS tap water.
We don't have bottled water. Why? Because we have tap water that we can drink.

Why do you put rocks in the water with the shoot?
