Yall got the Combine right. Players feature their skills in a variety of events so teams can evaluate them before the draft.

The NFL Combine takes place every year in April. It's an event where all the college players that are heading to the draft go to "show off" their skills. Every NFL teams coaching staff is there evaluating the players.

I live in Nashville and it's been a pleasure watching Derrick Henry play the last few years.

The Combine is a pre-draft work out where college seniors are invited to show the NFL coaches what they can do. There is a 40 yd dash, various weight lifting exercises, long and high jumps and a number of drills designed to measure strength, speed and quickness.

For once Dave is right. Yes, the combine is where NFL teams scout talent.

George Kittle is amazing. He plays for the 49ers. Love him.

While the combine is pretty interisting to watch. After a while it gets hard to really understand the numbers when they compare one freak of nature to another. So my favorite part is when they get a sportscaster to run the 40 yard dash and overlay the footage. It really shows how impressive the athletes are compared to an average person.

One more thing that should be mentioned about the NFL Combine is that you have to be invited to participate in it.

Daz, Kittle ran a 4.5 second 40 yard dash. His speed his quantified right there. Regardless of how he "looked" running.

Watching this reminded me of Megatron. Calvin Johnson. One of the best receivers of the previous generation. He wasn't super fast but was tall and had almost a 50" vertical, making freak catches routine. Y'all should watch some of his highlights or a video on him at some point. He would easily be a household name if he hadn't played for the Lions.

This is a couple of years old now. A new version would certainly include Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys. He is nominally a linebacker but they line him up everywhere.

The combine is where they test performance of the athletes. They test speed, strength, tackles, catches, QBs, etc.

The Combine is invite only for the best college football players to show their skills up close for all the NFL team coaches and scouts. It is held before the draft and most of those drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds were invited to the Combine.

Someone not looking that fast and actually seeing them at field level in person is two different things especially on a 6'4 250 Lb frame

You all should check out Earl Campbell. He has MASSIVE legs and was strong and fast when he was in the NFL. He could run you over or outrun you. I mean the old NFL players may not look as sculpted as today's players, but they were just as good as today's players in their own right. Dallas had an actual Olympic gold medal winner as a wide receiver in Bob Hayes. He actually changed how the game was played because of his speed.
