I visited the largest vending machine shop in Japan, where there were over 100 different vending machines offering everything from ramen and hamburgers to curry, drinks, toys, umbrellas, and even masks, etc.

This kind of experience is probably unique to this location and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Actually, this is my second visit. The reason being that there were too many vending machines and I couldn't be satisfied with just one visit.

🟠Here's a link to my first visit.

I was shocked he didn't know how to play pinball. As a Canadian it was a standard of my youth here and thinking about it you Japanese were more into Pachinko (or so i thought) back in those days. Love em both but thanks for the culture shock on something so simple as pinball ;)

My dude had no idea how pinball worked and that really made me wonder how many things I just assumed everyone knew about.

I think the pinball machines have buttons on each side that you can press to make the flippers at the bottom move to bounce the ball back up to hit more things and increase the score.

I love Japan, never been there but the culture seems so rich and peaceful. I hope your country keeps being prosperous.

Japan is weirdly old school yet futuristic at the same time if it makes any sense

The concept of buying a soda for 70 cents is just nuts to me! You'd probably have to go back over 30 years in the US to buy soda that cheap!

I love vending machines. Yours are better than the ones we have in the States. Here we just have snacks like chips and candy and drink ones as well

I wish so badly for something like this to be a thing. I've always thought it was really neat to get an actual quality "hot meal" from a vending machine. That old school feeling with that hint of futuristic hits the right medium for me.

I love how the tire shop owner is into these classic vending machines

For the game, there are buttons on the sides of the machine. You press the buttons to move the flippers inside the machine to send the pinball around and collect points. Your turn ends when the pinball slides between the flippers.

Oh, and Coke from a vending machine in a glass bottle is absolutely the very best taste.

In the days when glass soft drink bottles were common 16 oz was the largest size. Grocery stores usually kept the returned bottles in an area outside the main store. Employees hated the task of stacking and sorting the bottles. In warm weather the sweat residue attracted stinging yellow jackets, other insects and rats. Soft drinks were better in bottles and before the 1980s carbonated drinks were made with sugar which made the flavors crisper and more refreshing with finer bubbles and less aftertaste. Coke with high fructose corn syrup is a shadow of its former glory.

It's a pinball. Now you have a reason to go back there, to play it properly :)

I was really surprised how unexpensive these products are. Especially considering that the machines run on electricity all day. But maybe Japan isn't hit by the energy crisis ? In Belgium, they tend to shut down the few vending machines you can find here and there, I guess because it costs too much in electricity. And the prices of the products sold are way higher than in this video (at least the double).

Info about some of the vending machines:
The curry vending machine actually opens the retort package with an internal blade and pours it over the rice, then serves it.
The sandwich vending machine actually has a sandwich press inside, positioned vertically. Normally the shutter at the bottom is closed, but once it is done toasting, the sandwich press opens with the bottom shutter open, dropping the finished food into the chute, which is why it feels like a lava sandwich!
