What are the Satanic Verses? | Dr. Shabir Ally

The Satanic Verses is a term used in academic literature to refer to purported verses of the Quran which, according to some narratives, were once recited by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and taken to be a part of the Quran, but soon after denounced by the Prophet as having a Satanic origin and removed, leaving behind a strict monotheistic text. It became infamous because from a non-Muslim point of view, it would seem that the Prophet could not distinguish between what is Satanic and what is from God. Dr. Shabir Ally explains that the story doesn't arise from the most authentic narratives of the Prophet's life, and he shares John Burton's theory about how the story was concocted and why Muslims embraced it.

How can your prophet if he claims to be from Allah be influenced by shaytan? How can shaytan put words in his mouth?

What is wrong with seeking wisdom from the three goddesses Al-uzza, Al-lat and Manat. I am a Pagan and I seek wisdom and inspiration from them.

Just to add a bit of info - it was claimed that the particular shaitan/shaitan/satan in question was able to take the guise of hazrat jibreel alaihis salam - kinda reminds me of the term - "You Cunning Devil"
imho Quran & Hadiths gives guidance so followers should try to grasp the meaning/interpretation: instead of being like sheep to the slaughter literally.
When our journey is ended on this earth we will know the consequences of our actions that's why it's imperative to seek guidance/help from ALLAH (SWT).
i've realized i'm nothing special in comparison to all of the countless creations in the heavens, earth, other worlds & beyond dimensions. so pray for & help the suffering of creation if one seeks anything of the Lord our Rabbil Alamin

Asalam Alaikum we rahmatullah we barakatu and thank you for the insight into this topic, which has caused and still causes so much trouble, and unfortunately also nurishes the widely spread misinformation and negative attitudes against Islam.

All prophets, peace be upon them, have been tested in some way. As we are also being tested. Look how Satan tried to mislead Adam AS... he's been at it since then. Allah will guide us on the straight path and protect us as He protected His prophets, peace be upon them❤

I used to come to this channel to rationalize Islam, it helped a bit, but then after all, I came to the realization that it is impossible that Quraan is a book from the creator of the universe, I am a native arab, and I finally could not fool myself to believe it. It was a very hard and costy journey, but I finally reached peace by rejecting Islam and stop justifying and twisting the texts away from their obvious irrational imhumane meaning. if there is a god, he would have written a text that is clear and we won't need shabir ali or 100 "scholars" to try to clean it.

What are those surahs on the walls of the Al Aqsa mosque that are not in the Koran?

THIS IS THE TRUTH 🙏

According to *Islamic historiography, Qur’an 53:19–20 originally contained these words:
“Have you thought of al-Lāt and al-‘Uzza, and Manāt, the third, the other?
These are the exalted cranes (gharānīq), whose intercession is to be hoped for.”

Whilst the first line remains in the Quran to this day, the line:

“These are the exalted cranes (gharānīq), whose intercession is to be hoped for.”

does not appear in any Qur’anic manuscript and is NOT part of the Qur’an. It comes directly from the “Satanic Verses” narrative, found in *early Islamic historiography (e.g., Ibn Ishaq’s Sīrah and as preserved by Ibn Hisham and Al-Ṭabarī’s Tārīkh (History of the Prophets and Kings), Al-Wāqid, Al-Zuhrī (through fragmentary isnād references)), which describes an incident where the ‘Prophet’ Muhammad uttered these words under ‘Satanic influence’ and led a communal prostration (sujūd), only to later correct and condemn them after a convenient revelation from the (proven) fictitious character Jibreel.

However, I would point out that when Islam started to write its faux history, the Satanic Verses were accepted as part of that history! It is not a later development, but is in the earliest Islamic sources. The event is recorded in multiple independent sources and this is what historians call multiple attestation. Multiple attestation makes a report more reliable. All the major Islamic centres (Medina, Kufa, Basra, Damascus) transmitted the story. It had wide acceptance and was not a story that developed in one location. It was a widely circulated narrative among early Muslim historians and had the consensus of the early Muslim community!

* By the time of orthodox Sunni hadith compilation (9th–10th centuries)—e.g. Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawu the embarrassing story had been removed. Not a single major hadith collection includes it as authentic. That’s called WHITE WASHING! 🙏

There are only 2-3 books i have read about 2 times, one of them is 'The Old mand and the Sea' by Ernest Hemmingway. I read Satanic Verses in 1998, when i was in US, and forgot about it. Now is the time to read it again. It is the curiosity that kindles intellect in the man. This explanation by the scholar was very clear.

To all muslims: Please read the 4 Gospels (the first 4 books of the New Testament) about Jesus. You will see that Jesus ALWAYS recognized Satan immediately. And you will see that Satan and all fallen angels (demons) ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY recognized Jesus as the son of God. This is because they all know Jesus from the time as they were angels and in the kingdom of God.
And: Christians do not believe in 3 Gods! God father, Jesus, his son and the Holy Spirit are one! Please read the Bible!
And: Some muslims think that Jesus said, that someone will come after him, and that someone must be their prophet. But this is not true! Jesus meant the Holy Spirit!
And: Jesus was not a prophet. This is due to the wrong information Mohammed received from the people he met in the society of that time and place. Jesus was and is the son of God!
And: Jesus did not talk as a baby. This is wrong information to resolve some logical issues in the Koran!
And: Maria, Jesus's mother is not a Godess. This is just something that has been made historically and culturally. In the Bible you find no word about praying to Maria.
And: Please read also the Old Testament to understand the history and the relationship of God with human beings. This is living history, not just a book!
AND: Love is the very first reason God created us. He did not want to create robots who just do some rituals. He wanted and still wants real relationship with us. We cannot be more loved by God if we pray more or fasten or whatever. It is not on us to be holy. It is ONLY God's grace and gift to us. God does not need our works, but our love for Him! THIS IS THE REAL TRUTH!

If someone is claimed as a prophet, one would expect that they know good from evil, God from Satan, if not then one must be extremely careful what you believe of anything they say. If what they say is so complicated that someone else must explain what is really meant, then what they say is not for you either unless your learning and understanding is equal or above the original claim.

Question is, if this happened, why would satan try to derail the revelation? Because prophet Muhammad pbuh was actually receiving revelation from God. If anything it proves he was telling the truth and was receiving revelation.

Aoa Muslims who are confused - First of all the story by consensus of Ummah is Fabricated.. Why? Funniest part of this topic is abrogation that the guest says verses get taken out of the Quran but somehow everything in it is the word of god and has never been changed

If the Satanic verses were the result of a ‘Satanic Trick’ then so was the ’re-revelation’ of the Quran, because Mohammed definitely DID NOT meet Gabriel!!!

Islamic tradition states that on August 10th, 610 CE Mohammed first encountered ‘an Angel’ in the cave at Hira. Tradition names this Angel as ‘Gabriel’, but it was in fact Khadijah (not god, not the Angel) who told Mohammed it was Gabriel he had met! Later this story was changed to make it appear that Khadijah’s cousin Waraqa ibn Nawfal (‘a clever Christian’) had informed Mohammed that he had encountered ‘Angel Gabriel’ - that version made its appear that a ‘clever Christian’ accepted Mohammed as ‘prophet’.

However, I can show, from independent, academic sources, that Gabriel is a fictitious character from the forged Book of Daniel. So, how could Mohammed receive ‘re-revelation’ from a fictional character???

If you require references, please ask! 🙏

With Jesus it’s different. A biblical Christian is not allowed to harm anyone under any circumstances whatsoever.
Even when Christ is talked about like a dog!
Truth has no need to silence anyone!
Try to silence truth and MORE TRUTH is revealed.
Don’t worry about the lie.
Truth and “the lie” travel the exact same roads.
They both are fully aware of each other at all times.
You don’t kill to defend truth.
