R.I.P. Seiji. I got to see him conduct a clinic at Cal-State Hayward in 1971. Never will forget. Here he is conducting my favorite composer. For the ages.

Not a perfect video, but no one does Le Sacre du Printemps better than Seiji Ozawa. Thanks for sharing.

Pity, this upload is ruined by so many audio glitches. ☹️

Still, Seiji Ozawa’s conducting technique is breathtaking to watch.

please someone could tell me if is there someone now (!) some of the "young every time smiling conductors" able to conduct a sacre in this way? you can see the entire orchestra trust him!! this is a conductor he was not endless smiling during his conducting he was simply great and incredible gifted man:but he was also incredible serious thinking to do really the best!

He takes time with the lyricism without allowing for romanticism. Solti does the same. Salonen is exciting, but too Scandinavian, too Bernstein, too histrionic. Seiji, I remember when he first went to Boston. Electrifying. This is a great can always count on Ozawa to ignite the music. Here he gets the score sounding transparent the way Solti did with Chicago. Plus, Ozawa's terrific technique as the first-rate.

Not a very good tam-tam choice, as the only remark to this brilliant interpretation.
