MAJOR SURGERY On Our Jade Plant!

Показать описание
We have inherited this Jade Plant from a friend who no longer had the space and they were also just sick of moving it around from place to place. I was more than happy to take on this plant and give it a new home but first things first....TIME FOR SURGERY! We will be doing a heavy pruning on this jade because of its current neglected condition and I can't wait to see how it looks once we are done.

While shaping this plant we will be cutting most of the downward growth as well as a lot of the growth that is weighing down the individual stems.

Stay tuned to see how this plant looks after its growing for a couple of weeks!!!

So how did the jade plant turn out? And how do you train one to stay upright?

Next time to use bonsai wires to shape the plant. And I think it's is about time to repot and separate them, give it some fresh soil too. I wish I could get my hands on the plant like this.

Thank you for your video. I saw the result of the prunned jade plant. I just want to ask what happened to the cut branches?

Just reversing the "back: of the plant toward light would have the branches go up and backwards

I might have tried to stand some of these up. Did you cut with propagating the cutting in mind?

Would a jade plant cutting root from a thick branch cutting

why did you leave one branch dangling down? Personally I didn't like the branch with the heart shape. I would have pruned that back as well.

My question is, although Jade plants grow and recover faster in the spring and summer after a pruning, if it’s an indoor jade plant will it still recover from a pruning just as equally, any time of the year?

This is helpful. Can I repot the jade after I prune or is that too disturbing to the pruned plant?

I have a 25 year old Jade plant that is potted outside. Through the years I have pruned it to make the branches even and straight. It's a beautiful tree that blooms pink flowers every spring. It now has become too tall in front of our kitchen window. I decided to cut half of the top branches straight across to lower its height. But now those pruned branch top ends are brown and drying out. You can see inside the top of the branches; which looks kind of like inside of a mushroom. Have I murdered my Jade Plant?

I've had umpteen thousand small jade plants and they always die on me. I try to not water at all, or keep it watered lots, moderate indirect sunlight. What am I doing wrong? I never knew they grew that big and had thick stalks like that.

The leaves are so shiny. How old is it?

Nevertheless, it needed pruning, and repotting; soil mix do not seem adequate for efficient drainage, another pot would be good. Stop watering for some time, or keep it to a minimum.
