As a fnaf fan, an undertale fan and a deltarune fan, the year 1997, quickly translated to 1987 for me, and the name Mike just gives me nostalgia. 😭

the name mike is definitely important to the lore. in the spamton sweepstakes arg, one of the pages says this:

After Deltarune I decided to incorporate "big shot" in my everyday dictionary.

if you look at Mike's big shot soda's mascot you'll quickly notice that it is very similar to Spamton
