Every student after 10th who is going to pursue humanities gets mocked by either relatives or parents...
But they cannot find a single ias, ips or civil service officers who passed their exam without humanities....
Humanities has A vital role in the society as its name says it is the study that is concerned with human beings.

I had scored 80% in 10th CBSE. Though I was never ever interested neither in science nor in maths . My elders suggested me take up science. But I knew that I have inclination towards social science, literature, language. So I decided to take up Humanities as my stream. I had faith in myself that I would definitely excel in this stream.
Back in 2022, I gave 12th CBSE board exam and guess what, I had scored 89%.
Those who were against my decision of pursuing Humanities, were congratulating me and my parents on my success.
Currently I am pursuing Political Science(hons).

In my class 10 I was in the ICSE board science stream I was not so good at science, especially in physics and chemistry even my bio was good but it was of no use since my physics and chemistry were very weak I was very much interested in history and geography like they were my fav. in boards, I got 96 in history and 98 in geography whereas in science....92 in bio 42 in chemistry and 48 in physics overall I got 84% in 10 still science was the weakest😪. Still, my father forced me to take science as an option 🥺🥺and as expected due to hatred and frustration I couldn't do so well in that, he also used to ask for explanations for why I scored very low😥 and due to all that pressure by the end of the 11 I was so depressed even lost 10 kg of weight from 45 to 35... I didn't get proper sleep even for a day max 4 to 5 hours then there came an angel in my life💞, she was my far-related cousin and taught me the most valuable lesson of my life and how to live... I taught myself that I am even more important than anything else in the end what matters is me just me and my soul. Whatever I do I'll be doing it for myself right and if I am only not well so for whom will I work...I got 47% in 11. so I started my 12 with a calm mind and studied less but consistently with a bit of hard work and smart work I could get 92% in 12 and also got admission in DU and I am pursuing HISTORY HONOURS 🥰🥰 I got what I was made for an I am so grateful 😊😊

Problem with Humanities is that most Indian students are poor in English. Without a good grasp in english, and writing skills, you will not succeed in any humanities subject. Science is primarily rote memory/ratta maru so it suits most of the Indian students. If our colleges were in mother tongue (like Japan, S.Korea etc) we will have many eminent sociologists and philosophers today.

I also have love and passion in history and archaelogy, but never had guts to confess this with my parents and now I feel like I’m stuck preparing for iit jee in which I barely have some interest. I always loved social science and languages but after 10th I chose science and they all are gone now. I really miss those beautiful subjects. What should I do now?
