Do you know what the G.H. stands for on our bottles?

Georges Hermann Mumm, a son of one of the three founding Mumm brothers, was a visionary who took the House to new heights. His motto “Nec plus ultra: Only the best” expresses the enduring ethos of Maison Mumm--a relentless quest for excellence through innovation.

What about Peter Arnold who founded the firm, and Julius (Jules) Mumm who made the The Uk and America Mumm's largest market, and founded a sister Mumm Champagne Company which is part of GH today? Some histories say he came up with the idea of the red sash (Legion. d'honeur).
George Herman's and The Mumm family influence ended when the French Government sequestered the firm at the end of WW1. Incidentally, my grandmother, a grand daughter of Jules pronounced it Mumm to rhyme with mum rather than with Moom, as did all her family.
It's a fascinating History which also involves the establishment of Mumm Bank in Frankfurt and the other wine estates at Johannisberg which all bear the Mumm name..
You could make a super film about it.
Interesting fact - Jules Mumm is the only person to found a champagne house who is buried in England.

Interesting fact 2: George Herman's Portrait came up for sale about 2 years ago - did the current company buy it?
