I always liked Laniuses, something always made me buy at least one to be a crew member on every my ship, not because of strategy but because I liked them, the metallic beings that oxidize at immense speeds, leading to whole ships running out of oxygen, and the way they melt their own bodies to fix the broken parts of the ship was awesome to me. The lack of direct explanation of what they exactly are is what had drawn me towards them, I may only merely understand something about them through the small dialogue lines that don't directly explain them, but give little hints, details that together create a full representation of the Lanius.

Game: "You move too close to the Lanius ship and it proceeds to try to harvest you!"

Being honest, the Lanius ships are some of the few that I actually spare. I don't know why but the Lanius always warrant some pity from me. Possibly because they can't communicate with us easily, perhaps because no one can see them as anything but monsters because they melt ships and scrap. Whenever I see a white flag from a Lanius, I usually am willing to accept surrender.

What makes the Lanois so deadly isn't the boarding, it isn't the ship lacking oxygen, it isn't even the better overall equipment they come with. The terror is from your own greatest weapon. The FLAC.

The Lanius can be very challenging so special action must be taken to combat them. In my experience they pose just as much a threat or even more than the rebels.

The entire soundtrack for FTL is just hypnotically awesome. A friend of mine who was listening but not really watching me play FTL started paying more and more attention to the music, and when this track really got going he commented that he never realized how amazing the soundtrack for this game was until he was listening rather then watching.

I often explore the abandoned sectors when i can because i really like this music, even if it's... quite stressful. However, i'm also very disappointed because it's almost impossible to capture the enemy ships, because of the lack of oxygen...

Even though; outside of sector 8; abandoned sectors are the only ones that consistently kick my aß, I still tend to go to them anyways just for the music. Best track of a very good lot.

ahh the Lanius, my favourite species. They taught me the values of keeping non-important rooms deoxygenated, fire can't burn when there's no O2 to fuel it.

It's been a while since I played, so when I entered an Abandoned Sector last night I just stopped and listened to this track for a few minutes. Damn FTL's soundtrack hits just right.

I completed a ship with maximum possible upgrades and crushed the flagship only taking 4 hull damage. Despite max upgrades it took some strange strategies with redistributing power to minimize damage and fend off the boarders with decompression. I called that ship the SL 1200 Mk3 and it was my most successful ftl run ever.
