Andante, Op.31, No.6 by Fernando Sor (1778-1839) for classical guitar.

Leçon, Op.31, No.1 by Fernando Sor (1778-1839). This is an excellent arpeggio study with a melody in the top voice. It is fairly straight forward in terms of chord shapes and fingering, however, it is active and morphing constantly so requires some extra practice and knowledge of what's coming next. I give some tips about getting the shapes together and how the melody sneaks its way across and through the harmonies. Take it slow and give it time.

I'm working on learning all of Sor's Op. 31 right now, and this helped a lot! when first watched, I hadn't yet considered the upper "voice" to be it's own melody, except for the clear melodic move in the third measure. But treating it that way really imbues the piece with that "Sor Flavor" that i was missing.

I like to play this on the slower side as it brings out the beautiful lower progressions more clearly and smoothly. A very meditative piece.

Just started to look at this in your Easy Classical Guitar Volume 1 & 2, which includes a page turn which I've never seen before. Any hints on how to deal with page turns with only two hands? 😉

Nice lesson Bradford. Sor can be kind of monotonous but this one is quite musical. Thanks.
