My first instinct when I see that concrete and fence at the beginning is "Ah this isn't a great place"

Please don't show any area you have slept in if you are planning to sleep in again. There's some really dangerous creeps out here. Youre definitely taking a lot of precautions but please be careful of the internet too love.

As a New Yorker, I could never do this!! With crime being so high in this city, please be safe!! You’re too brave!!

In the UK empty vans get broken into all the time by thieves. The last thing I would want is to be sleeping in what looks like a vacant tradesman's van.

I live in NYC, and from your video I can pretty much tell approximately what area you’re parked in; be careful showing the locations!

if you see window curtains and blackout covers there is never not someone in there you aint fooling no one

That’s crazy risky, the window covers are a dead give away something valuable is inside.

Oh gosh, towed in your sleep! Once I was camped out at an apartment complex I was familiar with. Early in the morning I could hear people talking. Somebody starts knocking aggressively on my window. I stay still. I could see through my window cover this guy gets into a tow truck and starts backing up to my car. I had no choice but to get out. He stopped and told me to move my car because they were resurfacing the parking lot. Awkward and embarrassing!

The window covers and black out curtains are the exact definition of a van that is not vacant. Dont be naive everyone who walks by, knows you are in there.

Another idea could consider - Self Storage Business Yards. Then you have extra security because of gated keypad entry.

My daughter was doing the same thing but in San Antonio. Never got to say goodbye. She was only 23. Women, please don't travel alone. I still keep her van in my tiny backyard where I sleep in it on her birthdays and smell her sheets .

I live by the no earbuds somewhat anytime I’m out. I NEVER put two in unless I’m in a complete safe space like my house but very very rarely I do. I like being able to hear my surroundings and don’t want to get snuck up on. Plus when the earbud dies, you can switch it! It’s a win win. Safety first

If you want to listen to music or watch videos and just have you hear it, and hear your surroundings at the same time, I’d recommend bone conduction headphones. They sit in front of your ears and it sounds like music is being played around you. You can still hear everything.

Do you have video cameras on your Van so you can see who's outside before you open your doors

To say nothing of the fact that if you have ear plugs in you might not hear someone trying to break in. If they’re good enough! Brave woman!!

Window coverings in the cab are a dead giveaway for someone camping inside. Better to put a blackout curtain between the cab and the rear. And please reconsider stealthing in NYC. I've lived there and would never consider doing what you're doing as a solo female. Especially when you've shared what your van looks like online.

Reminds me of that woman who was rowing around the great Lakes in the 2000s who was targeted by a man who read about it and tracked her down and sexually assaulted her at night when she was camping. Not the same situation obviously but you have to be safe and smart. NYC, Chicago, DC, etc. are not good places to stealth camp. That warehouse next to the water is a crazy place to be stealth camping.
