Nike Dunk High Retro Premium 'Wu-Tang': Review & On-Feet

The legendary Wu-Tang Dunk High is finally getting a proper release on November 9th! Once considered a mythical grail sneaker with only a handful in existence, this is one of those pairs most collectors never imagined they'd ever be able to own. The Iowa dunks that are the exact same thing without the Wu logos sat and then went for way under retail in 2020. So you’re absolutely right that these are for those of us who get a shot at owning a pair of kicks that we previously needed to sell a car to afford.

Firstly, top review as always bro! Thank you! Regarding the re-release, I’m all for it! So many collabs have been hard to reach for the sneaker community so it’s great to have the opportunity to finally own some of these grails at retail! Resell prices are just not feasible for all in the current financial climate!

Technically never actually released since the first time they were made they were an unofficial thing done without Nikes approval for the group which is what RZA said on complex. So this is actually the first real release of the pair

The color is slightly different from the OG pair and also the Wu logo has been updated to the current logo style. Still definitely a cop for me as a Wu fan

Nike should have done more with this shoe. No box art? Puma released the Ghostbusters Suede XL shoes and they did a special box for them, plus all the cool stuff on the shoes to distinguish them from the regular Suede XL shoes. And the price of the shoes was $95 for a pair.

I am looking forward to this release and it’s nice to hear better materials applied than the standard issue. I presumed this is a mass release as I see a lot of retailers within EU have started raffles.

I welcome the re release of all these grails as long as we are given fair value - price will always be on the rise, I doubt Nike will ever drop price of releases; yet this is tolerable when the product is of satisfactory or superior quality. Nike is just riding on retros, let the, release all and let me retire 🤣.

Upside - Better materials and wu tang reissue

Downsides - no special box packaging for general release and slightly different in tone from the OG pair.

The year isn’t done but looking forward to 2025, going to be a busy year. I feel a lot of the projected releases will be pushed back, it’s just too many scheduled.
Nike needs to adapt and change with the times, and update the tech on retro releases and/ or materials. I love what was done to the reimagined bred 4s and the sb 4s. This should be the standard and feels a bit worth the price increase

I was going to backtrack and get the yellow ochre Jordan 1 until I heard the news about this release. I wonder why would they not retro popular releases for future generations instead of leaving them in the past just to be an afterthought. When these came out I tried my hardest to not buy sneakers because of how much calamity people would create over hyped stuff.
I’ve been getting myself familiar with Wu-Tang records for several years and sneaker a few. Now I get to appreciate them both even more.
