I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.
All those... moments will be lost... in time... like... tears... in rain.
Time... to die.

Rest in Peace Rutger Hauer. Your talent shined so brightly in this scene, you will be missed.

Bye, bye, Roy. The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly...

"If only you could see what I've seen with your eyes..."

Arguably one of the most tragically-underrated performers in cinematic history. Godspeed, Rutger Hauer.

They created a warrior, but what they got was a samurai who could compose his own death poem.

One of the greatest scenes in all of movie history. I found out years ago, that Hauer improved this line. It really shows the grand artistry of an actors mind.

Roy Batty's death scene was so well-acted by the late Rutger Hauer. He made Roy Batty such a sympathetic antagonist. Roy Batty just wanted to have longer life. "I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life than he ever had before. Not just his life. Anybody's life. My life. All he wanted was the same answers we all want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long I have got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die." Rutger Hauer 1944 - 2019

This scene always made me cry. Today, for personal reasons, it has even more poignant significance.

Rest In Peace to a legend. One of the greatest cinematic experiences, let alone scenes of all time, belongs to Rutger Hauer. An amazing actor, an amazing human. “All those moments will be lost in time, like... tears in rain. Time... to die”. Godspeed Rutger ❤️

I think it's amazing how, at the beginning of the monologue, Roy has this look on his face like he's taking pride, almost bragging about the things that he's seen. It's sad cuz that's one of the only things he can do before his impending death - feel pride for what he's seen, yet feel hopeless that he hasn't lived a full life, or ever will.

One of the most hauntingly beautiful ad-libbed lines in movie history.

Rest in peace, Rutger Hauer.

True story. The cast was in tears when he gave this speech. They weren't expecting it neither was Harrison as u can tell by the look on his face. Rutger finished the speech at 4 a.m. edited it big time and Ridley Scott approved it. What a legend and iconic moment gives me powerful emotions. The music was epic also. See the end of Bladerunner 2049 same music wow.

Truly one of the greatest lines of all time.. And to think he ad libbed this. At that moment you realise he wasn't a monster but just like any man, who is capable of doing monstrous things to escape doom. At that point you ask yourself.. Who was the villain in this movie? After he saves his assassin, Deckard's confused look tells us he is wondering the same thing.. Mortality is not arbitrary but morality can be. A deliverance of solemn Zen existentialist nihilism with a silver lining of hope that not just the big things that matter in life. It's every little thing. The storm is inside every raindrop, all shaped from the cloud they have fallen from.

Good to see how many people appreciate this masterful film in general and this sublime scene in particular.
