Even he is charged, he still have that honor and respect. He could have run road when he was overseas. But he returned and faced the court as it is. That itself is respectable. Money is 1 area u can loss. But the honor and respect, he held on to it.

I would say that the Ministers in Singapore whether they are corrupted or upright they represent themselves in a positive way. It's so hard for a person to admit mistakes.
But once you have the courage to do so, he is still considered a role model for other corrupted leaders.

Leadership is a privilege to better the lives of others. It is not an opportunity to satisfy personal greed....

Everyone makes mistake, being able to face the consequences there after are indication he’s a good and reformable man.

Those who abetted him should also be charged regardless of who initiated the CBT. Not justified to charge him alone and David Lum who had given him valuable gifts got away without any charges.

Only 1 year imprisonment..No wonder he is not appealing 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

CNA’s article also fails to address why the prosecution in such cases tends to propose comparatively lenient sentences.

I hope the press leaves him alone. Have a heart for his loved ones. He is facing the consequences of what he has done, please let him be.

when it comes to cases involving the establishment or public servants, the courts seem increasingly inclined to reject both the defence’s and prosecution’s recommendations in favour of harsher penalties. This approach may reflect a heightened awareness of public perception and a broader goal of protecting institutional integrity.

Singapura has made leaps and bounds progress by criminalising someone who was a pap minister at the time of committing the crime. Tbh, i find this more entertaining than the adultery case between former pap MPs. Not one but 2 pap mp at the time they did the immoral thingies which, i cannot say too explicitly on national tv. In a young country like sg, to have these cases happen is amazing within her short history. Lets continue to Majulah and not Malulah in that singapura

In Iswaran’s case, for instance, the prosecution sought a jail term of six to seven months, which, given the nature of the offence, some might argue was on the lower end of the sentencing spectrum.

Media should have left him alone. Questions asked were very silly, like how you are feeling or any words for your family. Put yourself in his shoes and one gets the answers.
Yes, he committed a crime and he's paying for it.

Did he favour the parties in any ways while he received their gifts?

Disgraceful to Singapore let's the judges handle them

The man is going to lose his freedom and dignity for 12 months, to be treated like a caged animal after holding the highest office, and he behaved politely and respectfully amidst the media scrumb. Give him some space, reporters. We are Singapore, not Hollywood. And if you're here commenting that one year is too lenient and all that, you've probably not done even a day in jail and I'm glad I'm not a politician who has to deal with people like you who probably don't know better.
