Amtrak 'Day One' ALC-42 Locomotive 301: First Run

Throughout February and March of 2022, Amtrak tested the new Siemens-Mobility built ALC-42 Charger locomotives along the route of the Empire Builder long distance train between Chicago and Seattle. Locomotive 301, featuring a special 50th Anniversary scheme known as "Day One", made its first run in the lead of a train along this route, departing Chicago on March 19th, 2022. In between Spokane and Seattle, Washington, the train ran without the assistance of a P42, the first trip made by the new ALC-42 locomotives to do so. In this video, we will follow the train from Trinidad, Washington to Seattle by way of scenic Stevens Pass.
