I just had lunch with my 92 year old aunt who used to work in the garment industry and has a great eye. She was wearing a black coat, black pants, and v-necked sweater, with a multi coloured bright scarf and deep pink lipstick. Her hair is cut in a white bob and she always wears colourful oddly shaped glasses. She looks amazing! She adds bold shots of colour with her scarves mainly, but also has a lime green spring jacket. She's one cool lady, and knows how to wear colour without overdoing it. I love her look, and I love colour as well!

I’m well over fifty and wear any colour. I bought three cashmere and wool coats in Orange, Green and Lemon five years ago and still wear them.

I am an inverted triangle and wear my brighter colors in a blouse, shirt or any top with an open jacket, sweater or gilee over the top. It keeps the bright color in the mid line. I also love beautiful scarves to give an accent. My favorite color is red-a warm red. I love the colors you are wearing.

And I am so happy that bright royal blue is on trend. I can finally find things in a shade I adore and it loves me back 😍.

Oh wow! I have been wearing my colors upside down! 😆 I love a beautiful white blouse and black pants, but according to your logic, I should have white pants and black top. I’m going to have to try the bright colors as skirts and pants. Merci Beaucoup! Tu es fabuleux!! 💕 I may have to invest in one of your courses. 🥰

Bonjour Marie-Anne,
Great advice. I do this with makeup. I select one feature & wear a bright bold color on my eyes or lips & keep everything else neutral. Thank you for including body shapes & bright colors. Merci. Cheers 😉 🌷

When I was a teen ager, my mother taught me your exact method to test colors. She said there is nothing hard about choosing a flattering color, just hold it up near your face, and look in the mirror. You can tell right away how it looks. She was a very chic dresser.

Oh Marianne you’re so right - always try on bright colours! I recently bought a pink fuschia top from online because I love the colour so much. When I put it on, I look so tired. It’s like all the colours flushed out of my face and focused on the top instead. I learned my lesson...but for the time being, I try to balance out the whole look with appropriate makeup instead. Thanks for another great video ❤️

And today I decided to wear a bright spring floral blouse that I love. I'm ready for springtime.

I love the tips you give. I look great in charcoal grey, but once I bought a charcoal grey blazer made of metallic fabric and all of sudden it was too overpowering (too much of a contrast for me). I was confused why is that, when charcoal grey usually suits me.. now I know why!
You know what also works? I put my hand on (or next to) the item and see how my hand and nails look. If the color looks good next to my hand, it looks great next to my face also. Works with makeup as well.

Hi Marie-Anne, I agree that a pop of colour is lovely. Particularly in winter when fashion is fairly drab.

Excellent, Marie-Anne!!!! I use to wear in basic colours, white ( my super star!), black, navy...with some bright ones in scarf, bag, shoes, even with some ethnial accesories that give a touch to my outfits! Here, at the End of the World, Summer is leaving us...day light becomes shorter ....a little of brightness is always welcome! Thanks for your wonderful

Very helpful, scarves are a good way to add colour & divert the eye away from problem areas
