The WORST part about MLB & PED suspensions

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for Clostebol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Tatis' suspension, announced by MLB on Friday, is effective immediately, meaning the All-Star shortstop cannot play in the majors this year. In a statement, Tatis said he is not appealing the ban as it was his "mistake" that led to the positive test.

You are 100% spot on Brodie. Prior to PED’s Bonds would miss several games in a season due to a nagging issue. After PED’s he was able to play through the grind and increase his productivity. A lot of people don’t realize that drugs have been a big part of baseball for years. Pitchers used to have 3 and 4 game rotations and pitched the whole game. There was something to keep those guys going a whole season and post season. The drug cheating was overshadowed by all the gambling baseball has had. Once players were paid so much they didn’t have to gamble everyone’s focus shifted to drug use.

You're absolutely correct. If a teacher needed a massage therapist, you can bet 100% that the teacher would do some research to ensure that he/she has found a legal and well established therapist. Don't do your research? You will lose your credential.

With the particular case of Tatis I think we’re just dealing with a really immature and unintelligent young man. He already got into multiple motorcycle crashes AFTER signing his $340 mil contract. He has a backloaded contract so the big money doesn’t come for a couple more years. By my math he’s only going to lose 1% of that $340 mil from this 80 game suspension ($5 mil salary this year, $7 mil next year….a quarter lost from each approximately). I just hope he’s finally learned his lesson but I wouldn’t be surprised if he screws up again.

Don't take the junk. Plain & simple. I'm not glad he took it, but I am glad he got caught.
