I can't understand why everyone talks about Brian as if he used to be a sort of hero: should we consider him a great character only because he likes to think about himself as a democratic party supporter?
"Family guy" is pure satire: Brian has never been a perfect character (or "the voice of reason", as someone wrote); he's just a character with his good and bad ideas, with his good and bad actions. He's just like everyone of us: satire, indeed, shows us that we have all got our imperfections and our contradictions.
