We build this classic from the ground up and discover its iconic original name along the way - The Hoggie. A texture party of soft bread, perfectly cured meat, proper provolone, fresh crisp veggies tossed in a vinaigrette, bright tomatoes, and an essential zing from all the pickled pepper goodness! Throw some salt & vinegar chips on the side and pack this bitch up for the best beach lunch you’ve ever had!
PS: The name Hoggie might be the best name for anything in history…

The Hoggie Italian Sub Sandwich
Assembly time: 15 minutes
Serves: 2
INGREDIENTS:
2 large italian white buns
¼ lb sliced salami
¼ lb sliced sopressata
¼ lb sliced mortadella
¼ lb sliced cured ham
¼ lb sliced provolone cheese
½ head iceberg lettuce
1 small white onion
3-4 banana peppers
4-5 roasted red peppers
3-4 pepperoncinis
Pinch of oregano
Pinch of basil
Pinch of garlic powder
2 tbsp olive oil
⅓ cup red wine vinegar
Yellow mustard
1 large tomato
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Grab your traditional italian sub bun and cut it in half lengthwise, but not all the way through. Create a little trench by digging out some of the bread from the inside of the bun. Layer your meats in any order you like, and top with your cheese. Don’t forget to use that extra trench space in your bun by pressing your meats and cheese down.
2. Finely slice your iceberg lettuce, onion and peppers into small strips and add them to a mixing bowl. Create a dressing by adding your herbs and oil/vinegar to the bowl and mix well, making sure everything is coated with the seasonings.
3. Begin to build that Hoggie by throwing in your salad, some sliced tomatoes, a spread of mustard and bang, you got yourself a big ol italian sub. Hoggie Nation!
