All those businesses have one thing in common which helped assure their longevity. They own the property and therefore have not been the victim of the huge rent increases that are the death knell for most mom & pop businesses.

C.O. Bigelow has the best shaving cream made for them in Italy that uses eucalyptus oil and mint. Comes in a large green metal pain tube. $10.

C.O. Bigelow pharmacy wanted to hire me as a pharmacy tech but I couldn’t take the position because they wanted to fill a tech who was leaving shift and I was still in school and needed something more flexible. I was so sad I didn’t get to work there, that place is a classic. The manager took me for a tour of the whole store and I fell in love with the place, so classic and beautiful.

As a kid, until his death 48 years ago, my Dad would take me to Katz's for corned beef sandwiches with Brown's celery tonic. THE BEST then & now. Yes it still looks exactly the same, very warm memories. Miss u Dad.❤

Don’t get me wrong, but this is the top 5 for a New York Jewish person.
I’ll give you Katz’……..but my top 5 are all in Italian spots or Spanish Harlem 😉

Katz is so iconic, it was in my English book in 5th grade at my school, nearly 10 years ago. In Germany.

I ciuld use a visit to Katzs deli. Longjng for some kosher deli. Its been over 50. years
I stopoed eating beef for decaides. But now ill eat some occasionally. And ive been desiring kosher deli for a while now.
