A game not only has to recoup its costs, but it should also generate at least twice its production cost to be considered a break-even.
Let's not overlook EA's expectations, which are quite significant. Anthem sold 5 million copies and was deemed a failure, setting the bar above this level.

68, 000 is not that great for a AAA Bioware game in 2024. Compare that to BG3, Dragons dogma 2 and Starfield, the numbers aren't impressive. Starfield came out on gamepass and has no ps version and still dominate Dragon age numbers. The standards have changed and it's supposed to do better than the previous WRPGs.

Great review of the game. Looks like the combat is quite engaging which is exciting to see. The story does not look half bad either. It’s one of many on the backlog… will wait for a sale and go from there. The internet is so full of hate. Many of these people I bet go from video to video spewing their nastiness. Fake positivity like this is exactly why most games suck nowadays. People want good games, than stop making excuses for every bad game out there. Think of the worst games imaginable and there is always a minority saying how great it is. You might feel special being one of the very few people that likes this game but luckily the majority of gamers realize that we've shoot ourselves in the foot with our own low standards. Why would developers spend money time and effort if every game is being praised no matter good or bad. That's not a success dude. Most DA fans like myself just at least wanted to give the game a try and bought it. I quit 8 hours in, and clearly looking at steam numbers most people have too.
THAT is the actual indicator of the game being a success or not. Not comparing it to their failure games like SW.
PS Inquisition was literal game of the year..

It has 80K current players. Wukong still has 130K, Helldivers has 60K. DA was in production for 10 years, went through 3 production cycles. Cost around 250mil plus marketing. It is flop for every measurable data. Video is factually wrong.
