Tom is the man. Taught me so many tricks and stuff for woodworking.

Hell he’s taught half the world this stuff. 👏

Even though it was Toms first time on TOH, he walked in like he has been doing it for 30 year's.

Tom Silva, looking like what 90% of the dad's looked like in the 80's

Oof, I can just close my eyes listening to this and it transports me to Sunday afternoons in the early 2000’s after lunch and dozing off to the sound of PBS on TV 💭💭💭 No cable, no smartphones, just good vibes.

Tom Silva is the best contractor that I've ever seen, I've watched every episode since the beginning, very professional and impeccable work.

He looks like he should be working under the hood of a Ford Granada.

WOW! Been watching this since 88 when I was 8. I love seeing the old episodes. I feel like Tommy, Rich and Norm are like Uncles to me. My love of woodworking and home remodeling comes directly from these 3 guys.

The design and craftsmanship from 1987 would still be desirable in 2020 and beyond. You can say what you want about Bob Vila but that craftsman on that show were equivalent to an Olympic Dream Team in so many ways. Everyone of them is a legend in home building, remodeling, finish carpentry, design, mechanical, decorating and finish landscaping. They made craftsman a wonderful career choice and inspirational to many DIY’rs such as myself and other family members who were glued to each and every episode. So much so when working we spoke with a Boston accent to sound like Norm and Tom. 🤣🤣🤣

Tom has the typical "helmet hair" of the day and Bob always seems to have a Band-Aid on his finger, despite never doing any physical work on the show!

What's interesting to me is how he sounds. He is speaking like young contractor's do to him today. Got a little of that hero worship with a dash of nerousness. Not wanting to say the wrong thing he talks so little compared to today when he goes on about the different techniques he has learned since this was recorded. Really shows how he was just like the workers he showcases today. Great clip.

I think most of us have learned a thing or two watching TOH. I know Tom have been a great resource for many of my projects.

Hey Tommy, it happens to all of us...time! Back in 1987 I was 40 years old and at the the peak of my bricklaying but stayed active till 2002 when my back gave out but would love to be laying brick today at 73. Maybe not on the big jobs but house work for sure. Hope to see you on many more episodes of TOH, Greg.
