In 2012, F-22 Raptor Lost To Eurofighter Typhoon.

On February 27th, 2012, F-22 stealth fighters faced German Eurofighter Typhoons. Both planes took off during the Red Flag exercise over Alaska. The F-22 pilot quickly uses thrust vectoring to turn the jet's nose towards Eurofighter. But the jet lost airspeed, a drawback of thrust vectoring control. The Eurofighter makes a tough maneuver, chases the now slow-flying Raptor, locks it, and fires a simulated missile shot. But please note that these were "Within Visual Range" dogfights and not the BVR ones. Also, the Eurofighter Typhoons were not equipped with their drop tanks, but F-22s did have external fuel tanks equipped.

The f22s in that drill had external fuel tanks on it creating a radar signature…the USA won’t even let allies know the raptor’s capabilities

The US likes to practice with every disadvantaged possible. Its to learn to work smarter.😂

The US always positions itself to lose in war. Games, so they know how to not lose in battle..

The f22s were put in a disadvantaged position and still won most of the engagements. The euro fighter wins once and brags about it lmao

Yeah in a dog fight but that would never happen in real life 😂

Its fun, everyone is able to beat the F22, because america lets them beat the F22.

If it wasn’t an exercise the euro fighters would have been shot down before they even knew the F22 raptor was there.

If you're not losing rounds in training, then you're not training right.

The whole point of the f22 is to take advantage of its stealth and engage far out of dogfight range.

Yall do realize the 22 had external fuel tanks. Right?

I'm so sick of people using these training exercises to make any determination on either plane. The point of doing things like putting drop tanks on the F22 and not letting them drop them or not using stealth is to put the pilot at a disadvantage so they lose. You don't learn anything from winning every time and we'd have the worst pilots in the world if we just let them rely on their stealth and missiles.

The f 22 is designed to attack bvr and from long range, it was never desinged to engage in dogfight. In this excercise the eurofighter was intentionaly given the advantage so as not to showcase raptors true capabilities

The Raptor looks (in my opinion) so much better than the Typhoon.

Tf is everyone arguing about. Each aircraft has its drawbacks. The F-22 isn’t perfect and neither is the eurofighter. Both very skilled pilots in good aircraft with their own purposes

What's funny is that someone thought that they won without realizing that they exposed themselves and their own limitations. It was a training exercise for EVERYONE to learn.

What about when the f-22 faced the French Dassault Rafale

sounds impressive, but the whole point of the f22 is to get close enough to launch munitions, not within visual range, it is literally not designed for this type of dogfighting. It is still a little impressive tho
