The Trudeau government has introduced reductions in the number of both permanent and temporary residents entering Canada over the next 3 years. These changes are part of a revised immigration plan which aims at addressing Canada's housing, healthcare and infrastructure challenges.

Please note that all International students who apply for visa has written in their letter to Immigration that they will return to their home country after their education. So how can you say it comes as a shock to students when their work permits expire ?

So are the people in the homeless encampment supposed to move over and make room for the international students? They won't build houses for the citizens here. We have coffeeshops hiring tfws to save $$. We are protecting our citizens, and also protecting tfws that are getting taken advantage of. There are no shortcuts. We have a major housing shortage. And if the host was a smart as she thinks she sounds, she would know that the premieres who govern the housing, not JT. A temporary permit is just that, temporary. You should expect that you will leave upon being notified. Get a PR or citizenship. Pay the money and fill the forms. That's what everyone else did. Canada is not such an easy country.

Good..our population has grown too much in the last 5 years. This will directly address the housing crisis and the high unemployment rate. Time to close the borders for 2 or 3 years to allow the economy to rebound.

Having said that, it’s always a risk when we pile our eggs in one basket and not have a Plan B. Immigrants are a commodity for developed countries and they treat us as such. Middle Eastern Countries have been doing it for decades but no one has ever condemned them so criticizing Canada for doing something similar is not fair.
Also whats missing in this report is that Canada has informed UN that they are also reducing the number of refugees they accept due to these same reasons so it’s a spectrum wide cut.

I think this all will impact the overcrowded developed provinces like ontario quebec and british columbia coz people prefer to live in metropolitan cities like toronto, vancouver, calgary and montreal. They never prefer to immigrate in provinces like saskatchewan, nova scotia, new foundland and labrador due to least population and cold weather. If you are living in regina, saskatoon, halifax, moncton and st. johns then no risk of deportation because govt wants to increase population in these provinces. Unfortunately people immigrate there then once receive the PR they move on to the big cities.
