My personal favorite will always be the fisherman from route 104 in emerald who says. "I caught a tough looking pokemon! Would you like to battle?" Then the only pokemon he has is a MAGIKARP.

the way the guy can hug rapidash Is because in one of the episodes of the original
series they explain the if a ponyta or rapidash likes you its flame can't hurt you which is actually pretty cool

There's this one guy in X an Y. In Chargestone cave, there is this one black belt that, when he sees you, shouts "BATTLE!". The best part is when he loses, he just shouts "DESPAIR!". Then you talk to him again and he shouts "TRAIN!". Hands down favorite NPC in all the games, close behind is that over 9000 guy.

my favourite gen 1 NPC is a swimmer by the SeaFoam Islands, the quote is something like...
"Hey why are you on a Pokémon? Can't you swim?"
THAT'S WHAT I WANNA KNOW!!!

My favorite NPC so far is the Psychic in X/Maybe Y that says 'Your Pokémon skills are fantastic! They're over 9000 for sure!'. Or maybe whatshisface in Emerald that runs the boat for you with his bird.... Umm... Peechu or something. It's been a while since I played it.

In X and Y, theres an NPC who patrols on a bridge inside of a cave. There is an NPC standing southward of the bridge. The one south of the bridge says "I think there's something wrong with that man. He's been pacing like that for weeks!"

After you beat him in a battle, he says "Come to think of it, I've been standing here for days now!"

My favorite NPC, is in Pokemon X, when the pshyic trainer says
Wow! Your pokemon's power level is over 9000 for sure!
