That 1910 poster is so ominous and looks genuine. Great work

That zoom in trick at the end with the little hole in the side, and then the upside down peak of the monument is just brilliant. It's a bait and switch where the viewer focuses on one thing first, and then it suddenly gets really disorienting and weird. At face value, a bendy Washington monument sounds goofy. But you build suspense and mystery around it by forcing us into this blurry zoomed in shot with the fake-out, then peeling out for the reveal. I love it.

Yo imagine you're someone who just happened to vist the Washinton Monument in 1910, get zapped by the magic tree tentacle and end up 93 years into the future.

All for the price of 10 cents.

The fact that the absentees reappeared in 2003 when the last one disappeared in the 70's is crazy to me.

"The Tree of Liberty must be watered by the blood of patriots" taken literally

So that Special Tree has some sort of an anomalous effect that can cause a wormhole, but given the fact that the Washington Monument is constructed around; the tree pretty much merged with it, now causing wormholes to happen around Washington Monument.

I’ll be honest here the video of the monument bending has become so unsettling to me that seeing a totally unrelated video where a statue started bending to dance with a character model became a sudden trigger right back into this series. Absolutely iconic, 10/10 design.

So, after watching Washington wonderland, it seems that the special tree is inside the Washington monument, but is invisible or in the tree plane, but still kind of there. The elevator takes visitors up to the top of the monument, then the tree’s music blares, and then the elevator’s floor comes out, causing the visitors to fall to their deaths. The bodies then completely disappear from the monument, joining the tree plane. The tree keeps them alive somehow, either because they fuel it in some way or because it’s sadistic. It keeps them in the tree plane for years upon years, and in the real world they’re known as Washington absentees due to them disappearing without any trace while visiting the monument. For some reason, the tree flashes at completely random intervals, transporting the absentees back to the real world, where they are brought back to life and found and kidnapped by the US government. They are then lobotomized to erase their ability to communicate about the events. Virginia Arnoldson was pregnant with Everett when she entered the monument, but her son disappeared from her womb in the tree plane and was not found when the tree transported them out. This could mean he either died in the process, or is permanently in the tree plane, possibly as another special tree.

Honestly, basing the Washington monument around a "special tree" sounds like something that early Americans would do
I spent a good 30 minutes trying to find anything about the tree because I wasn't sure

I like how they weren't actually sacrificing people towards the tree, that makes it way more unique and honestly scary then just a tree that eats people.
If I had to guess, the PoWs were just used as slave labor to carry the bricks to and fro. That was a good misdirect.

The Four Corners was called the Four Corners by Natives for millenia. It is a sacred site which the Navajo among other tribes claimed to have used as a portal. Although this video is made to be fun and creepy, there is some truth behind the idea of the government appropriating anomalous sites.

Can't quite put my finger on why I love these so much. That creeping dread will always be more effective than a jumpscare

absolutely brilliant, i love how well this was put together. the 2003 event looked so goofy yet eerie, almost dystopian. would love to see you expand on this.

I'm new here and I'm getting almost the same excitement when I discovered the secret SCP Foundation and its hidden works...
That tree is so fucking petrifying ngl..just thick, tall and branchless..and in the middle of nowhere...scary.

I have absolutely no idea why this video was recommended to me but it was so intriguing and now I want to see more.

It's an ancient fungus stalk that feeds into the underworld. They wanted to preserve it and harness it, the stone casing helps with conductivity, then, wormhole
