Thermal transfer paper here folks. Been around for a long long time. Used in place of a ribbon which are more expensive and need to be changed out more often.

Receipts are made from thermal paper. The laser in the machine etches the lines and words and things onto the paper by heating it up. That's why those machine never run out of ink. They run out of paper rolls but they will basically never stop printing. Hold a lighter to the bottom side of a receipt to heat it up and it will turn black.

That's why I always get the receipt when me and my mother goes to any grocery store, I love playing with the receipt and making lines😂

Receipt paper is heat paper. Its meant to fade over time so that the personal information, like the last four of a card and card holder name, will fade and not risk anyones information getting out if the receipt gets thrown away. I learned this at a restaurant I worked at. It stays long enough for it to be kept a record of for returns, refunds, etc but if you wanna throw it out, it'll fade within 6 months at a landfill due to the heat of the outside. You could "erase it" by heating up the paper in the area of the details. The shoe slapping actually is just pressure causing heat like a finger nail if you rub hard enough.

I’ve seen the original video and it’s a guy telling 2 truths and 1 lie and this one was the lie. Receipts are made out of heat sensitive paper so in order to get the receipt to look like how it did in the video, you could use a hair straightener

Receipt are heat sensitive, friction produces heat when the nail cut over the receipt results in black lines. Thus hitting a wood board over the receipt does not work, as the friction is minimised compare to using nails. As a results no line or black forms under the receipt.

They said in the original video (you have to watch the whole thing to know) that it’s actually heat sensitive and they used heat on the bottom half

It’s not from force, the paper is never printed on with ink, most recite paper is heat sensitive, a laser is what shines onto the receipt, and why when you apply a force and friction the heat causes the color to change.

It’s less mechanical parts and the machines can work at a fast pace without it being like an aggressive typewriter.

When you whack something there’s physical force and heat from the friction/contact; it’s why there’s a debate on how hard you can slap a chicken to cook it.

If you think of a welt/scrape it’s the same idea: a rope can slap you, can drag on you, or wrap against/around you all of which will cause a friction burn, the amount of surface contact and force applied can greatly change (think road rash v airplane chain / skinned knee v close line).

If you scratch part of your skin does it feel warm from the friction? Yes it’s a heat transfer and it applies the same way to the heat sensitive paper. If you take a hot penny and put it on reciept paper guess what it’ll leave a burn/residual shape. You can be gentle as possible and not move the penny and it will still etch on the paper. If I was to slap the paper the overall force compaired to the surface area would need to generate a specific heat requirement. Its possible to slap it and have it change color but it would be a lot of force a golf swing might be able to do it. It’s not magic.
