The Elephant Sanctuary | Donna Mud Wallowing

Показать описание
Each elephant arrival to The Elephant Sanctuary has a unique journey including before and during transport as well as once they arrive and begin to acclimate to their new forever home. Donna, who arrived last year on September 13, has been repeatedly spotted taking advantage of newly softened ground brought on by the frequent rain showers this time of year.
As Donna immersed herself in the thick, refreshing sludge for her first spring in Tennessee, she soon was covered in a thick layer of mud acting as a natural skin protectant. Beyond being a source of enrichment, mud baths also contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the elephants, allowing them to engage in instinctive behaviors. When we see Donna splashing around in the mud, we know she is one step further to fully acclimating at The Elephant Sanctuary.
