Are you interested in learning how to support families affected by substance use? Would you like to learn more about how to educate all families about the risks of substance use and how to help families find treatment and navigate systems of care? Check out a free, online training developed for the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood by the Center for Early Childhood Education at Eastern Connecticut State University.

The training covers topics such as factors that contribute to addiction, how substance use disorders impair decision-making, and how the stigma families face affect their chances of recovery. It also explores ways to prevent burnout when working with high-need families. The training includes experts and family members describing how to provide a compassionate response to families facing substance use issues, and it provides opportunities for you to reflect on your practice and check your understanding of key knowledge.

The training is available in English and Spanish.
