The stepsequencer definitely needs an update. And some extra features like ie the elektron models have. That would put the MPC’s really in the top end

Very nice samples man. Totally changes the perspective of your review. Very nice to listen to. I'm on the fence about whether to get an MPC One. Wasn't even considering this at all. I mean up to one week ago MPC's did not exist in my world since I've never been a big fan of them.


Then for some reason I started investigating these MPC's as I'm fed up with waiting for an M1x Macbook Pro and am considering getting an existing M1 Macbook Air (and the money I save could go to the MPC One).

The more I investigate these beasts the more I realize I'm missing out on a whole world of self contained, abundantly tactile, touch-screen fiddling, spontaneous, sit on the sofa or toilet beat making sessions! All without being 'tied' to a computer.

Additionally the fact everyone is raving about this 2.10 update is pushing me over the edge! - You playing these superb samples also isn't helping ;-)

Completely agree with you about the step sequencer needing an update. I broke out my Novation Circuit again because I wanted 16-step and tweak-ability. The MPC is crazy powerful right now but that step sequencer doesn't justify being a top-level view.

Akai needs you on the design team for practical user perspective. Your suggestion about the randomizer having an option for singular + or - direction was spot on!

Thanks for posting about this. I think all they need to do with the song mode is make it so that you can use the same sequence for each step of the song, but with different mutes on each of those steps. This is how C-Lab Creator worked way back, as well as the K2000 sequencer, iPad apps like Grooverider and Auxy, and a few others. So you don’t have to make copies of sequences and apply different mutes to each of those.

The way that the MPC shows Bank A B C etc… at the bottom like the Force with the shaded black background would be 💯 percent better for the Q links on the right side (instead of that dark grey box that covers up the screen when I’m chopping samples!) Something as small as that would be Awesome Akai!!!

12:00 the randomness is a great addition but there definitely needs to be a way to set the range of values for the randomizer to select from.
