Great video, I have Manjaro on a pc in the Garage, the one thing I did was not enable the air, just left it on the Manjaro repos. It has been very stable even with updates over 4 weeks grace, mine is the xfce build, Thank You.

Guys, take this advice from me because I used Manjaro for 1 year and I have been using Arch for years after that. Just immediately install Arch! It is easier, it is more stable as soon as you use the AUR and in theory it is a bit more secure because the repositories are more up to date, though just a little so you should be fine nevertheless. If I remember correctly even Switched to Linux (not an Arch-user) once did a video in which he installed Arch. He simply used the builtin script in the Arch-ISO. You start up the ISO from a USB-stick, you read the output in the terminal which tells you what to type to start the script and the script stalls and you simply go thorugh a TUI-menu and set everything up. You really can't do that wrong, no matter how hard to try as long as your BIOS supports UEFI, so as long as your PC or CPU isn't over 10 years old.

imho, manjaro is one of the best linux distribution; I am using it for years now and I am 100% satisfied with it, so I don’t see any reason I would want to use another distribution, apart from cachyos that is running on the same laptop in multi boot

There is some weirdness going on with pamac and flatpak. It doesn't list everything. So far I've noticed the flatpak versions of boxes, cura, and warehouse aren't shown. Boxes is verified, so it's not about security.

Manjaro or Garuda on my three PCs. These are really good distros.

Are you using KDE and do you recommend it for small businesses? I wish you did an updated small business software and mostly offline features video.

Aren't they using the Linux kernel? Have they forgotten it has a license, too?

I think you're better off just using stock Arch. I use to be a huge Fan of Manjaro. But its just not the distro it once was. I honestly have less issues and less breakages with Arch than i do Manjaro these days.

The latest version will NOT recognize WiFi at all. Went back to Garuda.

Been using Manjaro for several years never had any problems at all. However data collection does bother me and that alone would be enough for me to change distros.

I've been using manjaro plasma on bare metal for a year now and I cannot recommend it at all. While the features of plasma are great, such as the dynamic light adjust or the media player sync on the taskbar, the experience is anything close to smooth: for whatever reason the taskbar overlays lag for over half a sec, pretty much no matter what CPU% is being used, and should you click on them you'll most often than not lower the volume of the playback in that program. If I had to guess, it must be something to do with the SVG file it uses for everything UI, based on the 2-3 times an update broke the theme, login screen and the desktop of both of the computers I have the OS on (the other being a windows themed laptop, so that it has a longer life for the family) with the only fix being blindly deleting interface modules that do such simple things as putting a search box on the taskbar.

Now, I'll admit I don't have bleeding edge hardware, yet the minimum requirements are 2 gb of ram and both of these machines have 8gb; if triple the requirements are not enough, then they should be more honest about them. The only reason why I don't jump to arch wholesale is because I don't have a backup drive at hand to do so -- if you are interested in manjaro, just go for arch

Ive been using Manjaro for 4 years across 3 PCs and Ive been very happy with it. I did have 1 update break my main install in that 4 years which with the knowledge I have now I could have fixed. But a re-install only took a few hours and I have scripts that set everything up again. So much faster to install a Linux setup than a Windows one. I installed Manajro before I learnt about some of the negativity about it and I did try other distros but I had way more issues with them. Such as Endeavour where updates broke my system nearly every month. Garuda I liked but the themeing is atrocious and non trivial to revert as it runs very deep. I have yet to try CachyOS. I am also running Tumbleweed on a 2nd drive and thats been pretty solid for me too.

But For me and my use case. Manajro just delivers. It comes set up out of the box with all the stuff I want and need and very little stuff I dont. I cant be arsed with something Like Vanilla Arch where I still need to configure so much stuff to get a working system. I should also point out that Im running the Testing branch which I find to be a good compromise between stability and compatibility with the AUR. I use the AUR as sparingly as possible.

There are 100 other ways to use Plasma, with included installers and welcome screens, etc.. Manjaro is a no go for me.. Forever. Go with Garuda, CachyOS or Endevour (all Arch based)- for a similar experience. Nobara or Bazzite for the best gaming setup (fedora based). Kubuntu, MX, LMDE, Pika if you must have Debian based. Regata or Gecko for openSUSE based.

Manjaro is THE only arch based distro I'd recommend to anyone. Ive tried all of them. Stock arch, EndeavourOS, arco, CachyOS, etc and none come close to Manjaro. Works on all my machines right out of the box, Stable (for arch based), fast, and comes with sane defaults.

This whole video is based on "free and open source" and I couldn't care less about that. I just want my tools to work. Most of the best software out there is NOT open source.

Yeah, just can't recommend Manjaro. They just play a bit too much with their packages. Much better to go EndeavorOS or pure Arch. Much better overall experience. Manjaro was solid way back, but now, just not anything I would personally go with or recommend.
