Amtrak Positive train control did help the train stop. it can not sense a object in the way an it takes a train with that many cars about 1/3 of a mile to stop. the issue with the train being on the same track is a switch error. lets be thankful everyone on the train is ok and nobody died on board thanks to amtraks out bursting amfleat windows and safe cars. they make it so the windows fly out not out. the reson the first car window is damaged/came in is because the backcoe went off the track and its back scoop hit the side of the train. my prayers are with the people who died in that train crash. I hope this helped clear some things up.

JEEZ, AMTRAK, DO YA CAB SIGNAL MUCH?! Seriously, first that accident near Philadelphia that could've EASILY been prevented with cab signals and now THIS! Amtrak could learn a few lessons from TGV and Shinkansen.
