For the question at the end, NK actually answered this on their blog. They said the Monkeys see the player as a "guiding force" that helps them in their never ending battle against Bloons.

to answer your question: the player is referred to as a commander in the tutorial, you aren't creating the monkeys, you are simply telling them to go there.

This is a little silly idea but given how the bloons operate and how some of the heroes talk to the player and how the mechanics work, it reminds me a lot of how an immune system would combat a rapidly evolving virus. Needing specific antibodies to locate and destroy viruses that slip past the immediate defenses (camo detection) or how the bloons are locked to lanes similar to the veins/bloodstream. Tldr: I like the idea that we are some sought of macro entity whose immune system is the monkeys with the bloons acting a virus to our body ^^

The only downside to a Grandmaster's Caltrops is that they're 5 pierce instead of 6, and it's been a thing since Caltrops was reworked from 3 pierce and double the attack speed we are used to now, and Grandmaster's were +2 pierce

speaking of caltrops you could make a video on them + buffs, caltrops quadruple their damage with perma brew and stuff like that os it would be really cool to see one :D

Tbh I always thought we were some kind of general and when we buy monkeys we're actually hiring mercenaries to stop the bloons, and for non-monkey towers we just simply build them

5/0/1 with alch so caltrops don't take away from the buff uptime on the main attack which benefits much greater from it

it'd be cool to see a "merge" kind of option for Shinobi's on any other Ninja, or a button that allows the player to "direct" boosted power from Shinobi's that are away from the path to empower a ninja monkey that is in range of the path, so they don't steal all the pop count and/or damage, it would be a fun way to get a higher power ascended shadow but it wouldn't be broken because you still have to buy the 20 shinobi monkeys to boost the grandmaster. i'd like to see the same for poplust druids.
