Nice work on the housing, I don't see any potential issues or suggestions on how to improve any part of your design. You are completely right about the importance of the dowels, they are there for a very good reason and should always be used. With the J160 adapter plate you have it's indeed the earlier version. The updated version is functionally identical and was only changed to optimise construction in terms of reducing the machining time required, as much as I like to tweak things to improve parts between batches I didn't see any way to make it work better than it already does.

Wow, that turned out awesome, great work! 3d printers are pretty cool, I need to invest in one or build one for prototyping :D
