Honestly, I do not confederate him almost ever, bc he cuts a lot of micromanagement from me. I just make sure, I can confederate him any time, and that he keeps getting bigger. You could say I treat him as an unofficial vassal :D

Tyrion is already an allrounder. Not only an able statesmen ( his campaign buffs ) but also a great commander ( an exalted duellist if going for Khaine's path ).
After confederating all the elves, he can just call dibs on the Widowmaker. Having Alith-Anar's ambush and the Gates to the Shadow Realms, Tyrion might just transcend to a god himself.

The only thing i find annoying when confederating Tyrone is that Ulthuan suddenly counts as unconfortable climate to it's inhabitants.

I also a question, can AI factions of your race confederate with each other?

When I was doing a campaign with Teclis (vortex, also a bit of 'jungle expedition' roleplay so I didn't want to confederate Tyrion and Alarielle). At the end I had all of Lustria and most of Naggaroth (I decided to confederate with Alith Anar) while Tyrion and Alarielle shared Ulthuan (it was before Eltharion update). We all had an alliance, loved each other in a beautiful elven threesome but til the very end these two didn't confederate. I can't remember if they confederated some minor factions earlier or they just killed them all. And I have Alarielle DLC so that's not the case.
