MLS and roma decided to play this match because Roma has american ownership, as well as Michael Bradley the US captain on the Team.
It is very hard to convince Real Madrid, Manchester United/City, Barcelona quality teams to come over to the US and play US teams every year because of the spreading of their brand. They already know they have reach in the US, but going to Asian countries that have high populations in small areas can increase reach exponentially, and usually easier. tha

I said MLS, not LA. LA, NY, Dallas, Houston are draws simply due to the population and cache behind their cities names. Yes, LA has won 2 straight MLS Cups, so yes I could see why a team would consider playing them. But if that were Columbus, would you see that team get to play RM? I'm not sure. I was just trying to say how the MLS has reasons for what it does, although more than half the time it is a stupid reason, they are reasons nonetheless. Also, no, I don't live in LA, and don't plan to.
