Even as a child I always wanted to learn Thing’s origin, in The New Addams Family they showed picture of Thing’s parents but they did this because that TV show was more for kids. It’s quite possible that Thing was once normal hand of some member of Addams family or some family friend, and Thing was revived from necromancy or something.
