A review of the NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible (ISBN 9780310450504). This Bible features the text of the 2011 revision of the New International Version (NIV) arranged in a single text column, formatted into paragraphs, for the 66 books of the Protestant canon. The font in the text is 9.1 points. It includes 20,000 study notes printed in ~7.5 point font. The paper is reasonably opaque and show-through (ghosting) is a minor issue.

The volume is bound in tan and caramel imitation leather. The binding is sewn and the Bible lies open in both Genesis and Exodus. The wide inner margin generally keeps the text out of the gutter and on the flat portion of the page. The words of Christ are in black ink.

Thanks for another fine review. I always enjoy your calm voice and intellectual commentary in your reviews. When you disagree with something you do so respectfully. As usual, I look forward to your next review.!

FYI, I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this but back in August Google/YouTube stop sending me emails for the videos I have Subscribed to! Not happy.

Excellent review - as always - perfect quiet Sunday evening viewing and listening. I have the NIV Study Bible 2020 version. And as someone else said below it is worth it for the notes / comments. But the NIV for me is not my bible of choice alas even though it was one of the first Bible translations I used in my early days. If only they could do the NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible in say the NKJV or ESV. I may buy this for the notes alone but not sure yet. Anyways thank you for an another wonderful review I found in your channel ++

Mr. Jones, as a Catholic, I want to commend you for your comments made when reviewing the footnotes and explanations at about 30: - 32, as regards baptism and the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. You are quite respectful, and I also agree with your comments about the use of gender-inclusion language. I enjoyed your review very much. Many thanks! 🙏

The NIV is something I read along with a word-for-word style version. It's useful for many people, and I find it helps me understand some passages better. My favorite is the NKJV, and I'm also studying out of my new NET Bible. A person should use whichever version speaks to them, the one likely they will pick up and read more. I find the leather flex, leather-like, vinyl versions use paper lining on the inside, which ends up tearing quite rapidly. You said you didn't like the feel of this one, but they do vary sometimes. The leathers are becoming so expensive these days, even so I do prefer the real leather covers. I have the burgundy cover which I love and the hardback Bible (Orthodox Study Bible) fits nicely in it.

Some of your subscribers may be interested in a review of “The Bible from 26 Translations”. Curtis Vaughan Ed.
Also regarding the Lamsa:
Gen 22:1
Matt 27:46
Mark 15:34
seem to be very controversial.
Thanks again for your stellar work!
Donnie

As usual, a very nice review. Your Bible reviews are very academic yet accessible. :)

It seems that Protestants have more options when it comes to translations of Bible, even here in Germany. Maybe because Catholics does not allow a lot of theirs's to be published without permission of Church?

There is not much option for Eastern/Slavic Orthodox Bibles in English, only the Orthodox Study Bible.

Another question in my mind is: How much % of Bible (Catholic & Protestant) is Old Testament, and how much % is New Testament? I have read that Approx. 76% is old OT and 24% is NT.
